Catholic Journey Project Launches Inaugural Book for Those Exploring the Catholic Faith

Thinking About Catholicism:

For Those Near the Beginning of their Exploration Journey offers a welcoming guide for seekers, inquirers, and those considering the Catholic Church.

LONDON, ONTARIO — The Catholic Journey Project is pleased to announce the publication of its inaugural resource, Thinking About Catholicism: For Those Near the Beginning of their Exploration Journey, available beginning September 3, 2026.

Written for those who are curious about the Catholic faith, the book seeks to accompany readers who are at the beginning stages of their exploration of Christianity and the Catholic Church. Whether a person is investigating Catholicism for the first time, returning with questions of faith after many years away, or supporting a loved one who is exploring the Church, Thinking About Catholicism offers an accessible and respectful introduction to the Catholic journey.

At a time when increasing numbers of people are expressing interest in the Catholic faith and entering the Church through parish OCIA programs, this new resource aims to provide a gentle and thoughtful companion for those who are asking life's deepest questions.

"The Catholic Journey Project was founded upon a simple conviction: that those who sincerely seek God will find Him when they seek with all their heart, and that those who encounter Jesus Christ desire to continue growing in relationship with Him throughout their lives," said the publisher. "This book was written to meet people where they are, to accompany them in their questions, and to help them discover the fullness of Christianity found in the Catholic faith."

The Catholic Journey Project is a lay organization dedicated to providing supportive leadership and faithful Catholic teaching resources. Its mission is to help guide those seeking a meaningful relationship with God in the light of the fullness of Christianity. The organization draws upon extensive experience in parish ministry, including OCIA instruction, Alpha leadership, retreat facilitation, and various forms of service within the life of the Church.

Thinking About Catholicism is intended to be especially helpful for:

  • Individuals beginning to explore the Catholic faith;

  • Participants in OCIA and parish inquiry programs (as a supplement to existing OCIA programs);

  • Family members and friends accompanying someone on a faith journey;

  • Parish evangelization and outreach ministries;

  • Those returning with questions of faith after time away from religious practice.

  • Those who may need to wait for OCIA to begin.

The book invites readers to inquire about OCIA from their local parish, and may help those with intellectual or other perceived barriers from engaging parish staff. This book gives readers confidence to take next steps on their Catholic journey. Although a Catholic rationale is offered, this is not a Catholic apologetics book. Rather, it is a supportive and informative primer for those who want to learn about Catholicism, but may be apprehensive about personally engaging the Catholic community.

Thinking About Catholicism serves as the first publication in what is envisioned to be a growing collection of resources from the Catholic Journey Project, all designed to support people wherever they may be on their journey toward God.
