Thinking About Catholicism

For Those Near the Beginning of Their Exploration Journey. Available on Amazon here.

Catholics and non-Catholics will gain insight into their own faith journey from this book, and will be able to confidently take next steps, whatever they may be.

Catholics:

Non-Catholics:

  1. Cultural Catholics – Catholic by heritage and holidays, even if Sunday Mass isn’t always on the calendar.

  2. Christmas-and-Easter Catholics – They show up for the big feast days… and we’re genuinely glad they do.

  3. Parking-Lot Catholics – Close enough to the Church to know where it is, but not always coming inside.

  4. Inherited Catholics – Catholic because they were born into it, not yet because they’ve claimed it personally.

  5. Quiet Pew Sitters – Present at Mass, faithful in attendance, but rarely engaged beyond the pew.

  6. Autopilot Catholics – They go through the motions, but haven’t revisited why in a long time.

  7. Occasional Catholics – Involved when life is calm, distant when life gets busy or hard.

  8. Private-Faith Catholics – Believe deeply, but keep faith mostly personal and unseen.

  9. Disconnected Catholics – They haven’t left the Church intentionally; they just drifted over time.

  10. Waiting-to-Reengage Catholics – Their faith is still there, quietly waiting for an invitation, a question, or a moment of grace.

  1. Window-Watchers – Looking in from the outside, curious about what’s happening inside the Church.

  2. Spiritual Explorers – Actively searching for meaning, truth, and depth, but not ready to settle yet.

  3. Question-Friendly Seekers – Drawn to Catholicism precisely because it takes questions seriously.

  4. Heritage-Curious – Exploring Catholicism because of family roots, marriage, or cultural connection.

  5. Tradition-Drawn – Attracted to the history, rituals, and sense of continuity across centuries.

  6. Beauty-Seekers – Captivated by Catholic art, music, architecture, and liturgy.

  7. Depth-Hunters – Looking for a faith that engages both the heart and the intellect.

  8. Faith-Adjacent – Close to Catholic life through friends, spouses, or communities, but not yet inside it.

  9. Gentle Skeptics – Interested, thoughtful, and cautious, wanting understanding before commitment.

  10. Threshold Walkers – Standing at the door of the Church, not quite ready to enter, but no longer content to stay outside.
